In 2030, Fighting for Electric Vehicles took off on the road

The CNNMoney website reported that the Indian government has announced that it hopes to fully switch to electric vehicles and eliminate gasoline and diesel vehicles by 2030. However, to achieve this goal, it has to overcome many challenges, including the country’s poor infrastructure and insufficient charging stations.

India held a two-year international auto show last Friday (9th). Almost all depots have introduced an electric vehicle, while Indian car manufacturers Mahindra & Mahindra and TTM have exhibited. A variety of electric vehicles, including an electric bus, shows the results of the efforts of the Indian depot to develop electric vehicles.

And India's largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki, with a market share of nearly 50%, is showing an electric concept car to compete with international auto makers such as Hyundai Motors, Toyota Japan and Daimler AG.

Fengshen Suzuki has also built a lithium battery plant for electric vehicles with Japanese motor company Toshiba and auto parts maker Denso, and it is expected to start production in 2020.

Sujiato, head of the Indian Automobile Manufacturers Association (SIAM). Sugato Sen said: "Electric vehicles have become a major option for Indian cars on the road. The Indian government has expressed its desire to move toward electric vehicles."

Sugarto. Sen also pointed out that the introduction of long-range electric vehicles and the reduction of battery cost will help consumers to accept electric vehicles more.

At the International Motor Show in India, the major locomotive manufacturers also exhibited a number of 10 electric vehicle models. India is the world’s largest market for locomotives. As of March 2017, India has sold more than 17 million locomotives, which also means that the future of motor vehicles is endless.

However, the backward infrastructure of India has hindered the development of electric vehicles. The power supply in India is not stable enough. Some places are even without electricity, and the number of charging stations is also very scarce. These factors have become the biggest challenge for the development of electric vehicles.

The major car manufacturers then called on the government to take more actions. Renault Sawhney, head of Renault Automotive's India operations, said: “The government should set clear policies, schedules and infrastructure to help depots develop electric vehicles together.
